Hi out there

what is the recommended sound system for UBUNTU?
When i setup ALSA in Multimedia and run a test, it always fails with
msgs like "cannot create sink"
on the other hand OSS produces sound but no mixer is working, which
means i cannot control the volume...

Is there some help to read anywhere?
