I love the new Ubuntu pics:-) However if you want to change the login  
screen
you can do it form GDM setup (Computer-->System configuration--
> Login  or from a terminal window: $ sudo gdmsetup).
To change the Gnome slpash screen go to (as root)
/usr/share/pixmaps/splash/
Remove or rename the symbolic link ubuntu-splash.png
put there any pic you want and rename it ubuntu-splash.png, (or create  
a
