edit /etc/apt/sources.list and add

deb ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ unstable main

after that you can install mplayer (for me so far no problems)
for the codecs go to the mplayerhq.hu and download the
essential-codec-pack and place the codecs in /usr/lib/win32, so mplayer
can use them. 

as for the mplayer-plugin: that i am about to discover too :)
