Yes, it was my fault. I don't realy need the filesize but
have a division by zero bug in my app. Now it works fine.

Don't assume that all servers can honor the SIZE command. You should parse
the
directory listing that it gives back to you and decide for yourself what the
size is. That is what "I" do and my FTP program downloads the file with no
problem.
