• Perform administration and support of large Oracle databases on UNIX and Linux \
platforms in performance critical, high availability environments. • Gather \
requirements, model, design, develop, test, implement, support, and tune high \
availability data. • Create necessary SQL and PL/SQL scripts for administration \
activities. • Migrate software systems to Oracle from other software platforms and \
deploy Oracle software in performance-critical, high availability environments. • \
Provide dataset administration support and database maintenance critical to \
state-of-the-art electronic commerce websites. • Provide support for system upgrades \
and new system releases, and perform database monitoring using SQL and UNIX shell \
scripting, security monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of system failures. \
• Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software to \
protect vulnerable information, modify existing databases and database management \
systems, or direct programmers and analysts to make changes. • Test programs or \
databases, correct errors, and make necessary modifications. Plan, coordinate, and \
implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against \
accidental or unauthorized damage, modification, or disclosure. • Approve schedules, \
and plan and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements \
to computer systems, as well as train users. • Establish and calculate optimum \
values for database parameters, and specify users and user access levels. • Ensure \
accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools. • \
Establish and maintain security and integrity controls, and formulate and monitor \
policies, procedures, and standards relating to data management. • Build data that \
meet the needs of the business and work well within the overall systems architecture. \
Qualifications
BS in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related \
field plus 7 years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered. Also \
involve administering large Oracle databases on UNIX or Linux platforms in \
performance critical, high availability environments. Experience must also involve \
SQL, PL/SQL, and Unix shell scripting.
