Subject: editing /var/yp/src/passwd corrupt with yppasswdd?

In the nis_manual_setup man page on v3.2, DEC EXPLICITLY instructs the
admin to edit the password file then save it and do a make in the yp
dir. If yppasswdd is running and it tries to modify the passwd file
wouldn't there be a possiblity for the original changes made by the admin
to get lost or vice-versa?
Once again, if there is FAQ on this matter, please point me to it!
- Thanks!
