Thanks to Steve V. and James S. for suggesting that I increase the data segment
size. I am no longer hitting the 'out of memory' error.

At this point, however, I am failing:

/usr/install/gcc-4.3.3/alphaev68-dec-osf5.1b/libstdc++-v3/include/ext/pb_ds/detail/thin_heap_/split_join_fn_imps.hpp:108: \

error: invalid use
of incomplete type 'class __gnu_pbds::detail::thin_heap_<Value_Type, Cmp_Fn,
Allocator>'

/usr/install/gcc-4.3.3/alphaev68-dec-osf5.1b/libstdc++-v3/include/ext/pb_ds/detail/thin_heap_/thin_heap_.hpp:87: \

error: declaration of 'class
__gnu_pbds::detail::thin_heap_<Value_Type, Cmp_Fn, Allocator>'

make[4]: *** [alphaev68-dec-osf5.1b/bits/extc++.h.gch/O2g.gch] Error 1

I don't know enough about c++ attempt to correct this. Thanks in advance for
any help.

I've found conflicting information regarding ulimit settings, tuning the kernel,
previous gcc bugs with this memory error and source code modifications.

Any assistance with getting past this would be appreciated.
