Well... there is the Upgrade Guide. Did you read it?

Theoretically, point-releases should be drop-in replacements. Take
care to test everything in advance. You can also check to see if any
default configuration values have changed using this handy tool,
conveniently located immediately following the Upgrade Guide on the

There has been no announcement for Tomcat 7 EOL. We try to provide at
