It the MIB variable is of type OCTET STRING, then the value should be
in hexadecimal format. e.g. "53:4E:4D:50:20:41:44:43". (Note that this
format was invented before Tcl got support for binary data - so from
today's Tcl, this might seem a bit unusal.)
