I was rebooting today to setup bandwidth management; it all started last
week when I upgraded to FreeBSD 5.2 and while reading the "UPDATING" file,
subconsciously neglected the DANGER/warning message.

After reinstalling FreeBSD I decided not to use my previous 1,000 rule
firewall script but instead devised a new one. The one thing missing was
bandwidth management; and anybody using teardrop.ca yesterday would have
noticed a 1.2 second spike in latency. So I decided today to incorporate
bandwidth management into my new firewall script. Users on my NTP daemon
will once again be completely impervious to changes in latency as NTP is
granted the highest of permissions (it gets to bypass the bandwidth
management all together :).

If anybody wants assistance setting up bandwidth management under FreeBSD
feel free to email me; I am more then glade to assist fellow FreeBSD users.

(On a side note: the stratum 2 response is due to me temporarily disabling
my PPS interface. This will be disabled probably for the remainder of today
until I finish up some other minor changes.)

Thanks for watching.

Looks like sometime around Wed Jan 21 12:25:39 EST 2004 your server
went crazy. (Also, you're a stratum 2 now...)
