Your are right, "ldd python" shows a few dependencies, mainly from
glibc. The python libraries are included in the cgipython executable. I
assumed that cgipython was build statically. Well I am now trying to do
that.

That is not possible because you need a shell, which I do not have. A
shell would depend on glibc. When this would work, cgipython would
probably work too. My chroot jail only contains the web pages and the
(not yet working) cgipython interpreter.
