Direct requires print drivers on the Citrix server.

Indirect can use the UPD, which is RAW and compressed. However, if the print
server is in the head office then the print job will traverse the WAN
circuit multiple times.

If the print job sizes are excessive as they traverse the WAN, consider
ThinPrint or WAN Optimization.
