It is the case.  You can't tell it's the case from this message, which
could be forged, but if you send me a private message with a secret
phrase in it asking if I am claiming to be being forged, I can send
the phrase back to you and affirm the claim.  Then you'll know the
claim is coming from me because it's hard to steal my incoming mail
with your secret phrase in it.  You still won't know if the forgery
claim is true because I could be making it up.  But at least you'll
know the forgery claim you saw is being claimed by me.  Isn't
electronic communication wonderful?
