CALL FOR PAPERS

Special Issue: "Ubiquitous Sensing" - Sensors (ISSN 1424-8220)
Impact Factor: 1.739 (2011); 5-Year Impact Factor: 2.06 (2011)
http://www.mdpi.com/journal/sensors/special_issues/ubiquitous_sensing

Deadline for manuscript submissions: 31 August 2012

[Special Issue Information]
The era of ubiquitous sensing has begun recently thanks to the proliferation of \
wireless sensors. For instance, modern smartphones are equipped with a variety of \
sensors that can be used to continuously monitor activities and locations of the \
users, and a rapidly growing number of sensors are embedded into the physical world \
for monitoring of our living environments. Ubiquitous sensing promises to enhance \
awareness of the cyber, physical, and social contexts of our daily activities, thus \
providing supports for services and applications that will change our lives.

This special issue aims to collect recent research results that address key issues \
and topics related to ubiquitous sensing. We recommend authors provide as much \
details as possible, extended long research papers or comprehensive reviews (tutorial \
and survey papers approximately 30-50 pages each are particularly welcome.

In addition to open submissions, authors of the 2011 IEEE International Conference on \
Cyber, Physical and Social Computing (CPSCom 2011) and the 2011 IEEE International \
Conference on Internet of Things (iThings 2011) will be invited to submit extended \
versions of their papers to this special issue for consideration. Manuscripts from \
the conferences must have at least 40% extension compared with the conference \
versions.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Participatory sensing
- Human-centric sensing
- Sensing with smartphones
- Mobile sensing
- Ubiquitous sensing with RFID
- Sensing for social computing
- Community Sensing
- Wireless sensor networks
- Cyber-physical systems
- Internet of Things
- Platforms for ubiquitous sensing
- Ubiquitous sensing services and applications

[Submission]
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in \
to the website. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. Papers will be \
published continuously (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the \
special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as communications \
are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be \
sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under \
consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All \
manuscripts are refereed through a peer-review process. A guide for authors and other \
relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions \
for Authors page (http://www.mdpi.com/journal/sensors/instructions). Sensors is an \
international peer-reviewed Open Access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The \
Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 \
CHF (Swiss Francs).
