1. Introduction
Over the last few years we have witnessed the rapid advancement and evolution of \
optical technologies, which have been widely deployed in the Internet infrastructure \
in order to meet the ever-increasing demand for bandwidth. Currently, there is \
tremendous interest within both the industry and the research community in building \
the next-generation Internet, i.e., Optical Internet.
The Fourth International Conference on the Optical Internet (COIN2005) will serve as \
a forum to present high-quality recent research results on optical Internet \
architectures, design, operation, management and planning. It will bring together \
researchers, network operators and manufacturers, to discuss and disseminate the \
Optical Internet techniques. The COIN2005 will be held from May 29 to June 2, 2005 in \
Chongqing, China. This follows the highly successful COIN2004 (co-located with \
OECC2005) in Yokohama, Japan, COIN2003 (co-located with ACOFT¡¯2003) in Melbourne, \
Australia, and the inaugural COIN2002 in Cheju Island, Korea. Since 2002, it has \
planned that COIN will be held annually in the Asia-Pacific Region.
2. Topics
Contributions are invited on all topics concerning optical networking, which include, \
but are not limited to:

3. Publications
The submission of papers to the COIN05 can be made through the Electronic Submission \
System via a Web interface. Paper submissions must present original, unpublished \
research or new experiences relevant to the scope of the conference. COIN2005 will \
also encourage the submission of late-breaking advances and work-in-progress reports \
from ongoing research.
Papers must be written in English, and they should be at most 6 pages long in total, \
including bibliography and well-marked appendices. Authors also need to make sure \
that the electronically submitted files will print on a PostScript printer that uses \
IEEE 8.5§ç11 page paper (Letter Size). All submitted papers should be in PDF format \
in the camera ready form and be formatted according to the suggested template which \
will be made available via the website soon.
All papers submitted for this conference will be peer-reviewed and accepted on the \
basis of their scientific merit and relevance to the conference topics. Accepted \
papers will be published as separate proceedings. Authors of best papers will be \
invited to submit an extended version of their papers for publication in special \
issues of leading international journals.
