This certificate ensures your login data is encrypted while being
transmitted over the (Tor) network.

It means that the SSL certificate of the server xmpp.jp has expired.
This happens often, especially, since people sometimes use certificates
that need to be renewed every three months.
You should contact them: https://www.xmpp.jp/contact

However, it may could also be that the exit node you are using is
malicious and messing with SSL connections.

This is why it's generally not considered safe to accept such a certificate.

In any case, it has nothing to do with Pidgin or Tails.
