This sounds like a problem with the Optimus graphics to me.

Please retry:

 * after choosing the "Live (failsafe)" boot option

 * with Tails 2.4~rc1

Now, I wonder if we should ship bumblebee and bbswitch-dkms.
I'll give it a try (#7505).
