On the linux side.
the only thing you have to do is to config your networkcard with yast to DHCP
the rest does the DNS and DHCPserver of the 2000 ICS hopefully ;-)

Or use i.e.for the eth0 a fixed 192.168.0.x x between 2 and 253 mask
255.255.255.0
set gateway 192.168.0.1
be shure to set the nameserver to 192.168.0.1
all this can be done with the yast programm in SuSE
or edit it manualy in /etc/rc.config
check with nslookup if it worked

The tricky part is ICS and SMB shares because ICS uses this MSHOME
workgroupname.
and your SuSE SMB client is set to PRIVATEWORKGROUP or something else
you have to change this in your SMB (samba) config file.
please read the smb help files. (mini howtos on SMB)
if you running KDE you find the howtos under documentation .....
to mount a w2000 shared printer is possible and in detail discribed

checkout the smbclient and smbmount programm
i.e smbclient -L 192.168.0.1
or smbclient //192.168.0.1/printername
If you have declared your share in the 2000 and the ICS propperly.
the only drawback is that you open with such a config and without a firewall
a very big hole.

I tested some of those configs with the -whistler- windowsXP
advandced server and you get it to work but
If you dont have the server license and the security proxy in place. uuuuh.
ooops.
The other way arround linux as the SMB printer share and as firewall gateway
to the internet i think is today the better way.
I would not waste such a fine windows 2000 pro machine to do such basic
networking shit.
Use it as Wordprocessor or homecinnema or do some excel
this is what it realy can. if you dont TeX.
But on the other hand if you like the click and done and dont care about your
privacy
do as descibed above and your linux client is waiting for input.
if you want to use the server part of the linux suite
you have to add some registry keys in ICS even to use the HTTPS of apache
ask me.
because ICS is only some kind of NAT or masquarading.
