I'm having this problem:
When I load new mail, sylpheed doesn't show the numbers beside folder names in red color, only in bold \
black (not downloaded in this session), in the folder tree.

I assume it is because there is some misconfiguration in the qt/gtk theme. When I don't choose to apply \
my KDE settings to GTK application, is is ok, but then sylpheed (and e.g. Firefox) does not have the \
fancy KDE look I prefer.

Has anyone found how to have the KDE setting applied AND keep the new mail
notification in red? Or anything to say?

my ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file contains this:
# -----------------------------------------
include "/usr/share/themes/Qt/gtk-2.0/gtkrc"
style "user-font"
{
        font_name="Arial 9"
}
widget_class "*" style "user-font"
gtk-theme-name="Qt"
gtk-font-name="Arial 9"
# -----------------------------------------
and

/usr/share/themes/Qt/gtk-2.0/gtkrc
# -----------------------------------------
style "default"
{
  engine "qtengine"
  {
  }
}
class "GtkWidget" style "default"
# -----------------------------------------

I also tried to find the qtengine for gtk (makes sense?) but only found something
like icon definitions.

thank you very much

regards
Jakub Ondrusek
