I just had another idea. Sometimes it happends that i have a flacky
internet connection and the imap connection doesnt work well.
Would it be possible to first try to store the email in the
outbox, give a warning if this fails and ask whether the mail
should be send later.

The reasoning is that if the send operation itself fails, 
the mail can be still deleted from the outbox again, 
but a mail cannot made unsend if the storing in the outbox fails.
