Something that might convert things back to the way they used to be is to edit 
/etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc and take out the "-dpi 100" (if it's) in there.

However, I'm not sure that Mandrake keeps that file there.  Reading 
/usr/X11/bin/startx (a shell script) would help determine where the file is.
