They are using bold font, and it's specified in ~/.sylpheed/sylpheedrc:
bold_font=-*-helvetica-bold-r-normal--12-*-*-*-*-*-*-*,-*-*-bold-r-normal--12-*-*-*-*-*-*-*,*
Change it to the proper one.
