I'm just a user lurking to keep an eye on progress.. but I would like to
note that this is a good idea when coupled with the battery issue
brought up earlier.

If swsusp hibernate.sh is being triggered by an ACPI event "battery damn
near dead," compressing the image is probably not a good idea. However,
compressing it is a fine idea when triggered by ACPI event "lid got
shut" or "go-to-sleep Fn button got pressed."
