Hi Leif,

yes, I have tried both the original SuSE-Konfiguration which came
with 2.4.2 as well as my own Konfiguration, which excluded mostly
all special stuff (because my old SUN does not have that ;-) )

Bizarro.

$ gcc --version
2.95.2

I'm able to compile 2.4.3 just fine on my ultra-2 with suse 7.0 beta

are you sure you've got a valid config for your hardware?  Try moving
some of the more esoteric options into modules and recompiling.
