Hi list,

I'm totally new to oracle! I've never used a client nor a server! But I =
have
to install it on our SuSe test-server now.

Because I'm currently evaluating Oracle to be used for the training of =
our
students, I just downloaded the packages, so I don't have any oracle =
support
whatsoever (like metalink).

!When I'm refering to some documentation, it's the free downloadable =
docs
from otn!

What I did so far:
Actually everything like it's explained in the B10811_01 guide (server
installation) - like adding user/groups, creating the dirs, ...

Then I installed the DB as oracle user in KDE:
runInstaller.sh -ignoreSysPrereqs

But after the installation there is an error: (I've included a more or =
less
accurate english translation)

Does anyone know if this is a critical problem? I've heard that it's
"normal" to get an installation error on SuSe8.x?

If it's not, where/how can I configure the database? I ask, because I
already installed the DB two times now, but there was always this error =
and
then nothing as described in B10812_01 (administrator guide) would work!

Hopefully, with your help, I'm able to install and test/use the =
Oracle10g
database (at least in this test system for now).

Thanks in advance,

Stumpfl Markus
