A huge thanks to all who responded.

Hmm. I've looked at dabs.com for a printer within
budget. Unless anyone screams 'nooooo', I'll go ahead
and order a Brother HL-1450 tomorrow. It's got 8mb of
RAM, supports PCL6 (whatever that is) and Adobe
PostScript 2 (apparently this is good). It's £229
(exc).

I appreciate the advice on the makes (Brother and HP
seemed to come up a lot).
