You can do this, and I think the instructions might even be in the MySQL 
manual. I haven't done it for a long time, but my first ever MySQL job 
involved transferring a load of records form an Access database to MySQL and 
I did this entirely from within the Access GUI - although I can't remember 
what I did :)
