you can either do 'rpmbuild --rebuild apt-*.src.rpm' or install it as you
have done then go to /usr/src/packages and do 'rpmbuild -ba
SPECS/apt.spec'.  after either one, go to /usr/src/packages/RPMS/i586 and 
install the rpm you find there.  if it's not in i586, try one of the other 
arch directories under /usr/src/packages/RPMS.
