Subject:    [SLE] how to do backups of  a net disk into a hard disk?

i need to do backups (diferencial, compresed and automatic) from some net 
disks into a local big hard disk.

How could i do that? i have tryed with tar but is so slow and computer have 
problem to open big tar files to extract an especific file

please help
