They don't work.

Hello SuSE people,

After upgrading from kde 3.0-5 to 3.1 I have lost my system sounds. 
MP3's, cd's, .wav's all work. 

I have checked in control center and aRTS seems to be set up properly 
and plays the "test sound" OK. Then went to "system notifications" 
and double checked that certain events would play a sound.  Rechecked 
the box that says enable sound for all events. I have gone over this 
at least six times. Still no system sounds. 

Anybody else have this problem? Any suggestions?
