LPRng was broken on 8.1 'out of the box'.  I'm not sure whether SuSE has 
provided a fix or not but I just grabbed the RPM from  www.lprng.com  
for the 3.8.12  version.  I wouldn't mess with anything later than that.  
There were some bugs.......
