Lately I've become interested in Linux as an audio recording/editing platform.
One thing you run into right away when reading domunetaion about this is the
need for low latencies and the ability to run audio applications with
real-time priority.

I'll probably post more about this later, but for now: someone from Mandrake
said that the stock MDK kernel has a "mini" low-latency patch in it.

I was just wondering, does the SuSE kernel have any rt/low-latency tweaks in
it?

I think SuSE should provide an optional low-latency/rt patched kernel on
specifically for multimedia authors. After all, various kernels are already
provided (regular, SMP, SMP-large_mem).

Has anyone out there (using SusE) made an rpm of the kernel just for audio or
video editing?

Someone from Mandrake just caused quite a storm on the Linux Audio Developers
mailing list (http://music.columbia.edu/mailman/listinfo/linux-audio-user) by
asking for feedback on what Madrake needs to do to because the Linux Audio
editor's distro of choice.

I suse wish SuSE would do something like that!
