Well, I did the "chmod 777 rp8...bin" thing. Here is the results I get,
whether I install as normal user or as root:

You see, when I try to install as normal user I get a Seg fault, when I
try to install as root, I get "Error: Can't open display". I don't
understand what is going on. I never had this problem with SuSE 6.4, and
none of my hardware is different. Humm.....?
