If kalarm is built to use Akonadi, it will usually crash on startup unless the Qt \
patch you mention is applied.

However, the Akonadi option is still very much under development, and is certainly \
not in a working state yet. Currently, the build by default does NOT use the Akonadi \
option, and it should be kept that way until KDE 4.7. If openSUSE 11.3 provides the \
Akonadi version of KAlarm, that would be a serious bug.

If openSUSE 11.3 provides the non-Akonadi version of KAlarm, I don't know why it \
would be crashing like you describe. In that case, please raise a bug at \
bugs.kde.org, and supply the crash trace.
