You could try what I've done:

Make a mirror backup of your 10.0 ~/.kde:

~> cp -rp .kde .orig-10.0-kde

Upgrade 10.0 KDE to 3.5.2 level 'a' from the supplementary branch.
Upgrade 10.1 KDE to 3.5.2 level 'a' from the supplementary branch.

Once you've upgraded the 10.0 KDE, Kontact/KMail should automatically open and
update your mail and settings to match the new version. That's what happened
on my system after the upgrade.

Make a mirror copy of your *updated* 10.0 ~/.kde to the 10.1 ~/.kde (either
overwrite the existing ~/.kde or move it to ~/.orig-10.1-kde)

FWIW, I'm running KDE 3.5.2 level 'a' from the supplementary branch on all
three SUSE versions on this system: 9.3, 10.0 and 10.1.

9.3 is my 'fallback' Linux
10.0 is my 'daily' workspace
10.1 is in the debugging, pre-deployment phase

regards,

Carl
