Subject:    Trouble adding qfe interface on Ultra 2

Everyone,

I just added a SUN Quad Ethernet Card to a Ultra 2, booted the system with a
boot -r, and got the following error trying to plumb the interface

ecdvg002 / # ifconfig qfe0 plumb
ifconfig: plumb: qfe0: Bad file number

on further review, a grep of /etc/path_to_inst reveals:

ecdvg002 /etc # grep qfe path_to_inst
"/sbus@1f,0/SUNW,qfe@1,8c30000" 3 "qfe"
"/sbus@1f,0/SUNW,qfe@1,8c20000" 2 "qfe"
"/sbus@1f,0/SUNW,qfe@1,8c10000" 1 "qfe"
"/sbus@1f,0/SUNW,qfe@1,8c00000" 0 "qfe"

but looing at the contents of the directory /devices/sbus@1f,0 reveals

NOTE: the qfe devices are NOT here!!!!

runing prtdiag (piped through grep qfe) reveals

ecdvg002 /usr/platform/sun4u/sbin # ./prtdiag -v | grep qfe
 0   SBus   25     1   SUNW,qfe                          SUNW,sbus-qfe
 0   SBus   25     1   SUNW,qfe                          SUNW,sbus-qfe
 0   SBus   25     1   SUNW,qfe                          SUNW,sbus-qfe
 0   SBus   25     1   SUNW,qfe                          SUNW,sbus-qfe

So the Hardware is here!


Any ideas!!!!!!!!!
