How many NIS clients with can a single UltraSparc NIS server running
Solaris 2.6 with a 100 MBps ethernet card serve without experiencing many
RPC timeouts? I'm interested in what people are currently running for
their NIS servers as well as theoretical information. I am also
interested in the performance effects of multiple interfaces versus a
single interface as I would like to eliminate broadcast NIS binding and
instead bind to a one of a specified list of servers.

My current Sparc 10 NIS servers (2 50MHz SuperSparc, 64M RAM, 2 10 MBps
quad ethernet cards, Solaris 2.6) can handle approximately 150 clients
before causing timeouts. I do not expect adding more RAM will matter as
the machines show no paging. CPU usage is low (99-100% idle).
