The saga continues. I had two responses, one saying to use software
mirroring. We're trying to move away from this because of problems
people have had in the past when the system disk goes ... The second
was to bite the bullet and swap the disks.

Disks duly swapped.

 > raidctl -c c3t2d0 c3t3d0
Cannot create RAID volume, disk "c3t2d0" is mounted .

Yes, I know thanks, I want a mirror of it, but I booted failsafe and
tried again. This time I got the scary warning:

Creating RAID volume c3t2d0 will destroy all data on member disks,
proceed (y/n)?

By the manual, it says the secondary disk will get the data from the
first. The first should not be destroyed.

Okay, move back to software mirroring. Here's the VTOC of the first disk:

No, it doesn't, not even close.

Maybe it's confused because of the spare space I arranged at the end of
the disk for the RAID controller to use. s2 extends past this, but
there is no other partition referring to it. Try shrinking partition 2,
so that it matches.

Aargh. I know, but please just do what I tell you, okay ? I create a
metadb on the second disk.

works okay.

No, it doesn't!

Can anyone help me out here, please. What am I missing.

Your input would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Rob
