PROPFINDs are indeed additionally limited by the fact that property names are
carried as XML tags rather than as attributes (which are a bit more flexible in
terms of what can and can't be represented in XML).

Note that this problem would largely go away if Serf requested "send-all" style
REPORTs, or even a new skelta+properties REPORT style (as has been suggested
already as a solution to the sheer number of network turnarounds required for
checkouts).
