Running svnversion for this task is utterly infeasible, since it would have to
be done at *every* invocation of make (SLOOOW), and would require just about
everything to be re-linked, to propagate the new information, after every "svn
update". Yuck.

Since we can't realistically do it accurately, and anyone building dev builds
ought to know what they are doing, I'm just going to close this as WONTFIX.

Feel free to start a discussion on the dev list if you disagree.
