The current Subversion (1.0.6) seems to have this problem in the
mod_authz_svn.so and the mod_dav_svn.so files.  I think what was confusing me
before was maybe that at one point I had the subversion apache module(s) that
had the problem configured and another time I didn't have it configured in.

Re-starting investigation with this new clue.

It almost definitely has something to do with the libtool and -rpath settings. 
However, I'm not building anything specially that I know of so I'm not sure why
this would be a problem.

Lastly, this problem *ONLY* shows up with Apache module configured and NIS
active.  It actually may be happening without the NIS but it isn't a problem,
but maybe be extra stat
