A very late response, but...
I would like to put in a word for GEF as the hidden gem of eclipse and
the eclipse modeling frameworks. I've been involved in a couple of
graphical editors, and graphical editor frameworks, and none have been
done so _right_ as GEF.
If you have an in-memory data model it's done in almost no time to
create a graphical editor for the model. Even if you're only going to
do a viewer, it might be worth it, because there will be so little code
involved, and it's so easy to add zooming, and panning, copy-paste and
more.
