We have been working with Alex on providing better SSH support in
Subclipse (provided that you use the JavaSVN adapter). I have a "beta"
build available that you can install if you would like to help us test
this. I do not know or use SSH a whole lot, so my testing was fairly
minimal, and Alex is only able to test using a key file and passphrase. So
the more the merrier.

Anyway, the new feature is that you can now be prompted when needed to
provide your username, password, key file, passphrase, port number, dog's
name etc...

For backwards compatibility, I believe that JavaSVN will first use the old
configuration and I think the old cache. So if you already use JavaSVN,
you should "undo" this stuff so that you can be prompted for it.

Next, your repository connection in Subclipse should not contain a
password.

Of course you also need to set JavaSVN as your adapter in the preferences.

Once this is done, you should be prompted for your SSH credentials when
you do something that needs a connection. JavaSVN opens a persistent
connection so you should only be prompted once. There is an option on the
dialog to "save the information" you enter. When you do this, JavaSVN
will cache it using the Eclipse keyring API, which is fairly secure. Since
you are only prompted once per session, it isn't too bad to just not cache
it at all.

If you would like to try this, I have posted a 0.9.34.2 release at the
following update site location:

http://support.softlanding.com/subclipse

I will probably do any official 0.9.35 release in about a week or two.

There are some other JavaSVN performance improvements in here for all
connection types, and there are also other Subclipse features. The latter
can be viewed in our changelog on our web site.

Anyone is welcome to install this version, I just did not want to post it
to the official web site yet.

Thanks

Mark
