Makeup is not a lame practice but a good one. Here is a cut'n paste of the
default php.ini comments in the debian for the explanation.
Bugs should be solved, but a production web site should not expose its
weakness;)

I strongly recommand to log the error in syslog or in another file.  (see
php.ini)
