  DBMail? http://www.dbmail.org

  Stores the mail store in a SQL database. You could save yourself
  some duplicated work, and maybe just write your information into
  that once you have worked out the correct structure (or they might
  even be more helpful and give you a delivery agent you could use to
  your advantage).
