The other way round.
Because 1 >= 2 evaluates false and 1 % 2 evaluates true, your change
switched the color used for single quoted text.

Code history:
old situation: first indent is color[13], >> or more is color[14].
your change: first indent is color[14], next 13, next 14 etc.
my change: first indent is color[13], next 14, next 13.

The behaviour now is an extension of the old behaviour; the color of
single quoted text is the same as the old way.
