I was running Red Hat Linux 7.0 with it's supplied Squid RPM. Maybe it's 
because of the RPM...
I think i'll rebuild the RPM anyway.

It is. I tried it.

So maybe even a Perl script will do it (but slower).

Squid-2.6... Wow... Is there any hope to have it stable in 2001?
