Every box we sell runs an async Squid, and we have had no stability
problems. One unit has seen at least one crash which we haven't yet
been able to track down the cause of (it's in a very demanding
environment with a complicated network topology, including ICP, static
routes, frame relay clients, and other 'confusers'--which I think
triggered a race), but given the number of units in the field, one Squid
crash isn't all that intimidating.
