Hi,

I am trying to configure IP Masquerade on a machine running RH 6.2 that will serve
as an internet gateway to a LAN. The gateway machine is connection to the internet
by cable modem. The gateway machine has two ethernet cards, one NIC (eth1) for
the internet connection to the cable modem and the other NIC (eth0) for the
connection to the LAN .

The current configuration allows the gateway machine to access the internet and all
machines on the LAN. All machines on the LAN can reach the gateway machine.
But no machines on the LAN can reach the internet through the gateway machine.

To configure IP Masquerade, I added the lines below to the bottom of the rc.local
file on the gateway machine:

echo "ip_masq 192.168.1.4"
echo "1">/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
/sbin/depmod -a
/sbin/modprobe ip masq ftp.o
/sbin/modprobe ip masq raudio.o
/sbin/modprobe ip_irc.o
/sbin/ipfwadm -F -p deny
/sbin/ipfwadm -F -a m -S192.168.1.0/24 -D 0.0.0.0/0
/sbin/ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.4
/sbin/route add -net 192.168.1.0

This config used to work on RH 5.2
Did I miss something or does RH 6.2 require something else?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Ken
