This may be just a coincidence, but I recently had an almost identical problem
with the domain iop.org that turned-out to be a buggy DNS proxy. 

As the lesser of two evils I'd set dns_server to point to my  DSL router. dig
on the command line was getting the correct results from a different server,
but the router was giving SA corrupted data. 

I removed the dns_server entry and  AskDNS is now working correctly with
multiple txt records.
